Default Isolating induction kit from engine DIY style?????

would like to if possible make some sort of barrier between my engine and cone filter so that the filter only pulls in cold air.

would obviously have to go across the front right corner and have a hole in it for the filter but id also like to make it meet the bonnet when closed with some sort of seal (seal meaning in a bit of rubber like seals on a car door).
basically as air tight as possible.

so any suggestion on what materials to use that are cheap and would be able to with stand the heat??

Surely you can cut out metal sheet even with a £10 B&Q jigsaw & a metal cutting blade if you're strapped for cash? Would be a lot better than MDF I think mate.

I was thinking about doing one on mine when I get my new filter and cutting up & repainting some old PC cases so I don't even have to buy any metal!

I made mine from approx 1mm thick aluminium from B&Q cost £10
Cut with a pair of big scissors.
Used some old fuel pipe cut along its length to use on the top as a seal and stuck down with silver foil tape.
I also bought a 90 degree samco as it was easier to box it in at the front near headlight.
You can just see it in this pic.

Still waiting for my car to be mapped so not able to floor it at the mo, but if I open the bonnet when the engine is hot and put one hand in front of the air filter and the other hand between top hose and header tank there is a BIG diffrence in temp.

The inner wing itself on a impreza works as a bottom for the box.
