Default Pressure release?

When I turn the ignition on (so the dash lights up prior to start) the car occasionally seems to cough as if releasing a load of built up pressure. If its in gear it will try to jump forward a bit, but is obviously held back by the handbrake.

Also after it has done it, it always seems to take a couple of seconds longer to start. What is it?

MY00,FMIC,GEMS

Also a decat exhaust.

Ok then, if nobody knows, has it happened to anyone else?
I'm not overly concerned mechanically, I just wondered what causes it.

I have a vague recollection that GEMs sometimes sparks the plugs once when ignition turned on..

so if you happen to have a piston at the right point and fuel in the cylinder from last time it was run still then it turns over.

That would sound about right. Hence it not doing it every time, and then moving the car slightly when it does do it. It would probably also explain why it takes slightly longer to start too.
Cheers Simon, I have been struggling with that one for a while, and it's not something that most people would know!
