Classic Won't start

Classic Won't start
I've tried searching, but if you search for Start, you get sooo many threads
anyway, took the resonator off my 93 WRX yesterday to order a new one from a dealer (the connector for one of the pipes is broken.
Put it back together (still with old one), now car won't start.
There's a quick burst when you first turn it over, then it doesn't even try.
I've taken the box off again, and checked for any loose connectors every where I can see, and checked the MAF connector.
I have an ITG panel filter, which I gather can be dodgy, but it wouldn't go just like that would it?
Any ideas what to check?
Is it possible my Clfford immobiliser is cutting fuel, but letting the starter turn (not had any trouble with it so far)
any help hugely appreciated - if I have to call someone out, it'll be off the road for months till I can afford it!

Actually you can't hear the fuel pump starting, so it might be that. Will speak to alarm people tomorrow
cheers

Won't start
Told by the alarm fitters that the immobiliser would cut the ignition, not just the fuel pump circuit.
Having checked the fuse, what else is there to check?
Do you normally hear the fuel pump when you switch the ignition on in a Classic?

same thing happened t me m8 was at the lights car completly died nothing at all no battry fuel anything checked the engine the big breather pipe from the resonator had come off put it back on and like magic it started fine never had any more problems since was so werid that the pipe could have that effect proberbly the crank sensor couldent get the true readings without the pipe and thus sent the ecu in to saftey mode proberbly wrong but worth a check m8

Will check breather. The dash lights come, on everything seems to work, just won't fire up.
Could it be the MAF? I took it off to get the resonator off, and it started before then ok. Are they really that delicate?!

Can I suggest you do the fault code read procedure and see what it throws up, the ECU controlls the fuel pump controller and will not let it prime if it detects a major fault (working from memory here but think I'm right). During the start up crank phase however it is the idle speed control valve that schedules the fuel (until the ECU receives a positive crank sensor signal) so that's why you may be getting a bit of firing during the cycle.
I suggest you remove all the plugs you took of previously (with the ignition switched OFF), clean them and re-fit then re-set your imobilisor and turn the ignition key to ON (not start) and listen for the pump priming - If it still doesn't prime (2 second buzz) confirm if you hear the relay click - If not then you have some electrical system checks you need to do/have done.
Hope that helps!!

OK, put the new resonator on, checked all connections.
Connected CEL plugs, CEL flashed once per second indefinately, which I take to mean it's ok.
Taken MAF out to replace, seemed pretty mucky.
Any other suggestions welcome

It sounds like the chip in the key isn't being read or recognised.
Does the Check Engine light come on?
This wouldn't show a fault code either.
Don't know how this could have happened, perhaps you disturbed something electrical while you were working on the car.
