Does this happen when the car is cold or hot ? I had this problem when the car was hot and turned out to be the crankposition sensor. You can carry out an ECU check to ensure you do not have any fault codes ?

lol @daz well the fuel is of the english type lol
heres the full story of the engine.
right guys the new loom has been fitted < out of the same year wrx as the engine> and the car turns over but wont fire up
any ideas??????? the engine was left standing from july-october then i drove it 5 mins at low <under 5mph> speed then it was transplanted into my car and not been started since,,,,,,,
i have fitted a wrx loom after giving up on trying to combine the sport/wrx looms into one. so it shouldnt be a problem with wrong wires etc so any ideas????????

boost/air pipes split or loose?
would that stop the car fireing ??

above are the usual causes for a non-starting engine unless you have a wiring loom fault or a faulty ecu.
..and yes your fans and boost solenoid should be powering up in test mode as your friend advised.
good luck.

It still sounds to me like a crank sensor problem is there any chance you can get hold of a known working one to try? Failing that plug it in
Just thought of something else..........try checking the ecu fuse in the engine bay.If it the same set up as my MY98 it will be a tall pink fuse that sits in the fusebox under the bonnet.I remember blowing my fuse and the car just spun over and over with no spark, maybe worth a look

no need to feel stupid....we've all done some stuff that we thought was inexcuseable but its by letting people know what the cause of problems are that it can help others from struggling with a non starting car like you did for a couple of days.
