oil usage concerns?
Hi all,
ive recently had my car remapped and am very happy with it however i have checked my oil a few times and it seems to go down fairly easily.....i have just warmed the car up and then checked it and it was just below the "L" which is concerning.....I changed the oil less than 3k miles ago (just before the map) along with the filter AND have topped it up once already.
Would the increase in boost (and my willingness to use it!) affect oil usage??
I presume that checking the oil when the car is warm (as apposed to hot) is the correct way to do it? (i also checked it when it was cold and it showed a similar reading...)
Any help appreciated...
Neil.
P.S. current boost is 1.4bar if that makes a difference...

Glad it sorted , mine uses a bit of oil, think its allot more common on newage cars
I thinking of getting a RCM oil catch can they seem the best design and will stop oil in the intake

I am going to fit also an oil catch can but have been advised not to join the PCV hose with the engine breathers with a "T" cause they have different vacuum/pressure and usualy only the PCV hose needs to be connected, the other two just add moisture in the system!
Is this true?

They cant see whats in a map that somebody else did (if thats makes sense) so it was basically mapped from scratch......but it now feels a fair bit stronger, thanks to an extra 0.2bar of boost and the knocklinks much quieter so im very happy.
Just wish i knew what was happening with the oil situation !!
