Question Replaced battery now eratic idling???

I replaced the battery on my subaru this morning, Ever since though the idling has been very eratic. On the approach to a junction the revs will slowly drop and keep dropping, sometimes cutting out othertimes going down to 200rpm then bouncing back up to over 1000rpm , then back down. The car was running ok before the battery was replaced so has anybody any ideas as to if the fault is related or just coincidence????? And how to sort it???
cheers.

Could be that the ECU reset (battery change) means that your ECU is now not masking a sensor fault (MAF maybe). Symptoms sound very much like a faulty MAF.

If it is the MAF sensor any ideas of the best place to buy one. Are they the same on the imports as the uk models?? It is an STI6.

Ring Xtreme scoobies, they will get you one for about £70. Think its the same as Uk spec from memory.

As Pastor says, its very likely to be the MAF. A failed one of these on an STi 5/6 can be fatal for the engine if not detected, as it will lean out the mixture.

Drive off boost until its replaced.

Could also be the lambda sensor in the downpipe.

I personally would do both and start from scratch.
As DBM says - no boost what so ever

You can get one of these from any Subaru dealer, £88 inc VAT. Don't let them try and sell you the whole unit for £260 (happened to me earlier this week) as you only need the sensor. Do a search for the part number if they say it's all or nothing.

I will add that the cheap MAf only goes for the phase 2 engine, If yours is before 99 IIRC then you will have no choice but to et the whole unit at £270. I found out the hard way.
