Question Help with another CEL Light problem please.

I have a MY95 UK it has a full decatted and K&N Induction kit, no other mods.

When I start the car from cold the CEL light is off, as the temperature needle starts to rise the CEL comes on for about 10 seconds, the car doesnt seem to be any different. I have done the ECU check and it doesnt report any problems.

It did this before I fitted the exhaust two weeks ago.

Can anyone possible explain this, is there a sensor on its way out or something more worrying.

Any help gratfully received

More than likely to be a poor water temp switch/sensor.....

Well the light came on today and stayed on.

When I tried to start my car this evening, its was really difficult to get it to tick over (like it had no choke). I kept my foot on the accelerator for a couple of minutes and then it would tick over. I guess it started to get warm.

Would a poor water temp switch/sensor..... create these symptoms? If not any other ideas what would.

If it is the switch/sensor where is it located and how easy is it to change? DIY or a garage job.

Many Thanks

Anthony

Are you saying connecting the black connectors didn't flash you a CEL error code? Have you tried performing a full ECU reset...?

No, connecting the black connectors give codes of 21 and 24, so ordered a new temp switch/sensor hopefully that will solve the problems.

Will have to wait and see, cant get one till next Tuesday.

24 - Idle air control solenoid as well. I think that can be cleaned...

Yes thanks for that, I thought I would change the temp switch/sensor first and try cleaning the idle solenoid as have been quoted £200+ to replace that.

Thanks Anthony
