Default Cant sell the scoob! so lets make it faster!

Right ive decided to keep my scoob after no luck selling her. So now i want to make it faster, so has anyone got any ideas of what mods i should put on and how much the'll cost, and my budget is £3.500.
The following mods i already have on a MY00.

Dump Valve
Full decat downpipe and midsection
Uprated clutch
Quickshift
K&N Panel Filter
AP brakes
Knocklink and Boost gauge.

Also what Bhp would i be looking at.

A good advanced driver training course is always a good start, and it'll follow you from car to car as you upgrade.

After that, Powerstation's bump steer mod is cheap and effective. Equal length headers are next and will liberate a few bhp and improve smoothness too. Then, since you already have uprated brakes, move on to suspension work - anti-lift, anti-dive, solid drop links, strut braces front & rear and a set of springs & dampers.

Depending on what you have left to spend, you can then look again at the engine - bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump and Tek 3 remap are probably next, leaving some over for insurance which will undoubtedly go up. If you can afford it, an FMIC would be next, but obviously you want to fit this before the remap.

I've got roughly the same mods as you have. Engine mods I've been thinking about are:

TD05 - £600 2nd Hand Andy F
Hybrid FMIC - £600 from GB forum
550C Injectors and regulator - £400? Not sure on that one.
Power FC or TEK3 £600 - £700 (I'm thinking TEK3 myself as have TEK2 at the moment)

That should give 350BHP but I'd only go to 300 odd in an attempt to prolong clutch and gearbox life - at least until I could afford a gearbox rebuild!

I spoke to Powerstation and they suggested that unless you've got an open cheque book spend on Suspension and handling as suspension doesn't lunch itself like engine/'boxes !!

I'm going for FE-TD05, Ported headers, STi6 I/C, 2" Up-pipe, 3" de-cat, STi panel filter, airbox mod, Walbro fuel pump, FSE FPR, lightened flywheel and a Tek3....should be good for in the region of 330bhp.

I have a spare TD05 for sale if you need.

Default Advanced driving, Worth it?

We all think we are good drivers, myself included, but after a recent advanced training day with Andy Walsh (www.1stlotus.co.uk/intro.htm) at North Weald Airfield, I realised how much more there was to learn. Andy set a time of 55 sec around the 'circuit' in the afternoon, and the closest I got was 62s, from 68s, how much would you spend to be that much faster due to the car? This was booked through the SIDC, but can be booked direct and was the Best £150 I have yet spent on the scoob. (Expect to lose 2-3mm on tyre tread, thats how hard you get to push it!) Booking again now for Sept/Oct.

Worrying that so many people are suggesting power upgrades but no corresponding handling/suspension work to try and keep it on the road. Going quicker isn't all about power, you need poise and precision through the bends or you're just building a drag racer, and there are much better cars on which to base one of those than any Subaru. 400bhp on the stock MY00 suspension would terrify me right up to the point when we ended up in a hedge or the big ends and gearbox turned into a sort of metallic soup

andy, he asked about what mods to make it faster, not how to make it handle better.

you obviously have never had a 400+bhp subaru or you wouldn't be making comments like the above.

with the right mods and mapping the engine can handle it no problem.

i must be doing something wrong as i am on my original gearbox and engine!!!!

as for suspension, i only have eibachs and solid droplinks fitted and the car handles fine.

well it does for me anyway
