Help - Hesitation probs after holiday??
Returned from a 2-week holiday a couple of days ago and took the car for a run to find hesitation problems on mild acceleration. It was peviously running perfectly before the holiday.
It's ok heavy/full throttle and ok very light throttle but in between judders badly.
The cars a UK97
the ignition has new plugs & magnecor leads fitted 3-months ago,
induction has K&N induction, forge vta dv
The boost looks ok with nothing obvious
I am going to clean the MAF this morning and see if that helps. Also reset the ECU and clean linkages & vacuum pipes.
Could the lambda sensor have deteriorated from leaving the car standing (rusted)?
Any other ideas on what could go wrong just by not using the car for 2-weeks?
Cheers
Rich

Hmmm i know i hesitate after a holiday
Im wondering if it could just be a bit of damp? or if it could be the fuel in the tank (i doubt that, i know mine doesnt stay in there very long )

cleaned MAF, reset ECU and its still juddering badly
I dont think its the ignition system - when the plug gap was too large b4 I had juddering only at full throttle.
Tony - thanks for the reply but I have used the car several times now and its not improving at all so don't think its damp.
Maybe water has got into the fuel - its been parked with one wheel on a curb, maybe rain has run into the tank.

Clean the dump valve, probably stuck / leaking. It would confuse the car quite a bit, assuming its a VTA. Or better, put the standard one back on

Red - sorry I should have said I have a Dawes fitted and the boost solenoid is effectively disconnected (its only connected electrically and plays no part in the boost control)
I haven't put new fuel in yet, still got half a tank left.
Mark - its a VTA, maybe it has gummed up although the boost levels are fine and it seems to to whoosh in all the right places
I'm going to fit a new lambda sensor next weekend - the original one has done 60K and probably due for a change anyway.
Cheers

Update: universal lambda sensor fitted today and normal running is resumed
It actually feels smoother with a more stable idle - it must have been on its way out for a while.

Got the sensor from here:
http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/lambda_sensors.php
Got the 3-wire one for £47 delivered.
If you have an aftermarket dump valave there is usually a way to take it apart. I just cleaned off the old grease - re-greased and re-assembled.
The oem ones (for MY97/98 at least) are sealed plastic and non-serviceable
