Anyone fitted a front strutbrace themselves?
I am about to order a new strut brace for my STi.
Is this the sort of job that anyone can fit? If so what should I be careful of? Do I need to invest in a torque wrench?

Steve,
Changed mine on MY97 Scooby...Simple job..:
Jack up the car so that both front wheels are off the ground, and put the strut on...and slowly tighten...
Things i noticed over the next month uneven wear of tyres at the front, and slight pulling to one side..So you have to be carefull of how much you tighten it.
Just got me a 98 Scooby, but i think i will get one installed from a pro...any recomendations anyone?

Bad information is worse than none at all.
One of the reasons I stopped coming on here so often.
Do NOT jack the car up!
and do NOT adjust it once made to fit.
The adjustment is there only so that it can be made to fit the correct width over the three studs of the strut towers. It's not there as a camber adjuster!
The car should also be on level ground when fitting.

Jack the car up? That'll put tension across the strut tops and twist the body slightly.
And also.....
Don't do the 6 nuts up very tight or they'll snap and you'll have to take the whole strut out to replace them, which'll be considerably more than the 15 minutes it should take to do this job.
They need very little torque (14 lbft IIRC).

Sam, you were advised wrong..
Fuzz has got it spot on.. as has butty, they snap very easily..
Edited to add, that if you have to take the strain off, the weight of the car going on it once its back on the floor could snap the strut bolts off under extreme circumstances..
