Where the hell is my....
Where the heck is the airbag module?
My airbag lights been on for years, I've never bothered fixing it cos it would have been over a grand at a dealer cos the airbag modules are so expensive.
By a stroke of luck I found one on ebay the exact same year and model of my car for £50
Question is...... Where the the hell does it go?
I'm hopeing to fit it tonight but don't want to go pulling the dash apart until I know where I'm aiming. It looks a bit like an ECU but thicker.
Maybe someone who has the workshop manual could have a look for me (I'm at work at the mo)?
Thanks in advance.

1, have you tried resetting it, if not get it done
2, if you fit a new/second hand one that will also have to be reset
3, don't **** about with it because it mite go bang

Not sure if its always a good idea to go to main dealers.
I had a the same problem and it 30 mins (and £70) for the man at the desk to tell me that I need a new ecu (£summitstupid).
Fortunately I was able to get chatting to the technician ,who told me what services they had just carried out.
Basicly, opened the diagnosis book, looked at the srs page, found fault code for 'srs light constantly illuminated',answer 'open circuit.
He told me that: there is no machine to reset the SRS ecu,it dosent need resetting, its either working or not in which case you either get a series of flashes or light stays on.
I know alot of other cars can be reset, but not this one.
I recon he spent 2 minutes (if that)on my car for which I had to pay £70 odd,and the official answere was 'You require a new ECU sir'.
Later on after checking the fuses and plugs I found the main SRS plug (buried behind a few other plugs on the os footwell/kick panel, under the relays),which was pluged together but the secondary lock on the plug wasnt clicked in.This sorted my problem.
BTW this was on a 2000 model classic.

I went all over the car this afternoon but I did'nt find that plug. I found one behind the steering collum wheel and it was ok. I looked around at all other plugs and wires but did'nt go behind the kick panels even though the air bag wires went down that way.
Will look tommorrow. I hopeing its this because I've tried two airbag modules and both light up the airbag light.
Thanks very much for that info mate. I'll let you know how I get on.

most common thing i found when doing airbags is the ring under the steering wheel. it's a thin ribbon in a unit and contracts or expands depending on which way you turn the wheel. if this breaks somewhere due to all the turning over the years this brings the light on.
there is a plug under the dash which has 2 black wires next to it you put one in one of the holes of the plug and it flashes the light at you. can't remember what hole it is though
