MOT advice please
Hi
Do I stand any chance of getting through the emissions with just a centre cat and STi B/B on STi3 with de-cat d/p, Stainless headers & up-pipe?
Tried yesterday and it failed on CO at 0.632%, max. is 0.3%
Passed HC & Lambda OK
Could the cat be knackered or is there no chance? Don't want to re-fit the d/p cat if I can help it.
MOT centre suggest I try a guy who may be able to 'tweak' it enough but that sounds a bit of a worry if it means messing with the fuelling.
Alternatively, is a high flow centre cat available?
Thanks

Thanks for reply JGM.
Centre section has a flat, oval section, 'lump' approx 30cm lng x 15 wide immediately after it connects to the d/p . I assumed it's a cat simply because I was under the impression that it should have 2.
If it's not a cat then it's a further tribute to AndyF and his abilities with the Apexi
Could this 'lump' be just a resonator? In which case would I just have to find a catted centre?
Thanks for any help.

Yes mate, in the STi the centre is a resonator.. only cat is in the downpipe..
If you look into the humped end if it is a cat there will be a mesh you can see about 4 or 5inches into the centre section at the humped end iirc. They look the same from the outside.
You need to borrow a centre off a UK car or refit (PITA) the downpipe

MY97 STi3. I'm trying the legal route as I don't know of any other
Currently searching for sale sections for OEM centre with cat.
Any further advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

You could try www.hdcsubaru.com or www.gradea-subaru.co.uk but hopefully someone might have one you could borrow? assuming you are in Scotland as you said AndyF did the Apexi map.

Just to let you know, I now have an MOT pass cert. I managed to borrow a catted centre and the CO ended up 0.00
Thanks for your help JGM, you were of course right When I looked down both pipes, the cat does have the mesh, as you described. Nice one!
