The correct jacking point is a few inches behind the back of the front wheels, where there is a lip at the bottom of the side skirt.

Are you using trolley jack? If so, go in a little further, where it's more flat.

Thats what I did before when fitting mudflaps but just wanted to check as I just assumed rather than checked the fountain of knowledge that is SN!

Spent all weekend going back and for to SN and my car with print outs of threads.

Have a think about this:
The 'side' jacking points are there only to use the jack supplied with the car. Using a trolly jack will flatten them, and you cannot (safely) use the side areas again.

The correct jack points are:

Front: engine cross member; a bolted on pleate is there ready and able to take the trolly jack.
Rear: put the trolly jack under the rear diff, it is actually shaped for the jack!

As 911 said; I've used these jacking points on my MY99 classic and just used some wood to protect the diff and X-member from my trolley jack.

I've used the Tow eye for a front Jack Point with a trolley jack - works very well whilst I get the Axle Stands in place

Do not jack the car up at the suggested points. Unless using the suabru jack the lip is very easy to destroy. Go any further in with a trolley jack and you will damage the underseal and metalwork.

Use the jacking points as described by 911

Trust me I found out the hardway and have damaged the underside of my car

i had my new tyres fitted last week and the dude jacked up on a cross beam support which seems to lead under the engine but it was behind the wheel arch area. Anyways, its bent a little bit now . Hope no harm is done!
