I have really bad clutch judder in my wrx classic when down changing. I have read in the FAQ that dot 5 fluid may help.
How do i change the fulid? where is the resivoir?

The reservoir is mounted on the firewall, above the exhaust downpipe, to the RHS of the brake fluid reservoir.
If you remove the intercooler it will be easier to get to the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder.

Andy, please do not take this the wrong way, but, if you are not sure where the master/slave parts are are you sure you should be doing the job?
As above, it is all there if you take the intercooler off. To do the job is very easy with minimum tools, and to use dot5 is a good thing to do. It cured many of the probs on my UK Turbo my2000, including judder and tight gear changes in traffic; heat from the turbo boiled the clutch fluid!

I don't mean to run you down, so sorry if I have offended.

You will need to take the piston off at the clutch end (a couple of bolts) so that the air can escape through the bleed nipple, an assistant will be needed to operate the clutch pedal (nb it doesnt return to the top on it's own), also when pushing the new fluid through hold the piston in place.

Usually needs a newclutch plate/cover/bearing and new flywheel, to stop the judder.

jesus old thread! No it didnt work - flywheel is fuc%ed. Api are sorting it for me. Dot 5 was good though. (i had prblems getting gears if i gave the car a good run on old fluid) Dead easy to do once you know how - dont have to remove the IC either.
