Default TEK 3

Hi
I have a MY00 PPP
Would fitting a TEK 3 benefit me in anyway over the ppp ecu?
All help much appreciated.

tek3 is mapped to each individual car so yes it would be better. don't know if the gain over ppp would be worth the extra cost (£763) unless you r doing some mods that would affect the ppp ecu ie full decat, induction or turbo swap.

I am planning to change induction and decat. Future plans will be a TD05FE and front mount.
Still not sure?

do it after the turbo and front mount swap. Then it will be worthwhile....

Just make sure you don't get the PPP'd ECU Tek3'd. Get yourself a spare AE802 ECU (same MY as yours), and get that Tek3'd. You can then either sell the PPP'd ECU for a few hundred quid, or keep it, and swap back when you come to sell the car. You could probably then sell the Tek3'd ECU separately...

Jt as steve said do your mods b4 tek3 as the mapping is to suit the state of tune. if you alter anything it will need mapping again.
you could always buy my tek3 can be set up to suit your car and has licence then sell your ppp one for similar price.

How much does it cost to get a Tek3 remapped, bearing in mind a Tek3 from scratch is about £760...?

Judge, Bob charges £350 I think its plus vat. tek3 licence is £300 +vat

no Judge, I bought it for my P1 but found out it wouldn't fit. it only fits
uk 99/00 cars the P1 is based on sti 5 ecu.

Jt looking for around £350 which is what the licence is worth. cheaper route than buying an 801 or 802.

That's a bit steep isn't it?! Especially when you consider the new owner of it won't be able to use it safely, unless their modifications are very similar to the car it was originally mapped against. Otherwise, the first thing they'll have to do it go and get it remapped, which, as you say, is going to cost another £400, there or thereabouts...

Judge as you have said a tek 3 is £760 mapping your own ecu. a tek 3 with my ecu will be £750 but you gain an ecu. I would probably let it go for £300 which is a lot less than I paid for it. thats £700 for a tek 3 remap plus whatever value you put on the ecu already in the car. In Jt's case the ppp ecu would be worth £300 I would imagine. 801/802 sell for £100
