TeK 1 ,ITG, Full SS, mapped to SUL + oct.

If i fit an induction kit (HKS or Blitz) will the TEK 1 need more work, upgrading or will it adapt.

What's the next move?

The only thing an induction kit will give you will be a louder intake roar or a whine if you get a stainless steel one. If you went for the tek2 you have more of a reason due to higher boost pressures.

It is a good way to start if you intend to go further but if this is as far as you want to go on the tuning side then save your money.

Tek1 will not need remapping it will learn. It will progressivly go lean until it sees knock then go rich again. Becareful your car doesn't start to run lean due to the MAF sensor and induction kit combo.

It will probably kill your low down torque and it will not learn the fuelling. The only circumstances in which fuelling is adaptive is under closed loop (cruise). At open loop (higher loads) if your MAF under-reads because of an induction kit it will be leaner, and unless there is a large amount of knock (very unlikely) it will not add fuel. So you will just lose torque most likely. Tek 2 is already mapped for an induction kit as the spool up areas of the map are richened.

Question

John, so how does this effect things if you don't have an induction kit?

The standard car is way too lean during spool up - the induction kit worsens this. By richening it up it is obviously better do it on a car by car basis, but with or without an induction kit the fuelling is far more appropriate on Tek 2 than the standard ECU.

I stand corrected.

Jon, Does the TEK2 learn? I was informed that it would take up to 200 miles to reach its full potential. Was this a load of poo or is there some truth in it?

It learns ignition timing and does take about a full tank before it gives its best.
