Any good 75w/90 gear oil. If you're just topping up, any name brand 75/90 will do. If you're putting a lot in, go for Mobil 1 SHC 75w/90, Silkolene Syn5, Redline Shockproof Lightweight or Castrol Syntrax.

It's also a good idea to fill the box to a fraction above the "full" hole on the stick. About an eighth of an inch or so above would be just the job, assuming the oil's cold and the car's level.

Why is it a good idea to slightly overfill Greasemonkey? Will that not potentially damage oil seals?

Just interested as mine is slightly below full (as per engine oil) and gearbox has always been a bit of a bitch when cold from first to second, even with good 75-90 oil.
