strange knock problem
#1
i have a 93 wrx wagon - mods include full H&S scoobysport exhaust system, pavlo scooby ecu, running 16.2 psi.
i have a knocklink.
at around 4k rpm + in top i get some activity on the ambers of the link and occasionaily the dreaded red one, but only as i am throttling back to a cruise and holding it steady.
this is worrying me.
the problem never existed before- the map can not have altered.
i have not uprated the fuel pump yet, but that is in hand.
i wonder what could be causing this. i have ideas, but am saying nothing so as people can answer subjectively.
Cheers,
Weava

ah yes - forgot to mention.
it ran fine on SUL. i thought that may be the fuel was the problem, but octane booster has not improved the running in the area described.
Thanks,

Hi ya Weava,
How long's this been happening? You do realise that it's been cold recently which means denser air, which means more air, and so the fueling would have to adjust accordingly.
I don't spose you've got an AFR fitted? This should indicate if it is a fueling issue or not cos it would be running lean at the same time.

Guys,
i have AFR, boost gauge and oil temp to be fitted, but am waiting on a pod to house same from teknopete.
i willhave them fitted soon.
regards the oil, i have always used 10-40w fully syth pro 4 silcolene. i have never had a problem with it.
i changed the oil and filter the other day and then began to have problems shortly after. there was discussion about the oil level being to high, and thus the crank case breather was contaminating the mixture, but a quick test (10 miles) proved this not to be the case.
still befuddled?!!?
