Changed the turbo from TD04 MY99 to new shape Bugeye WRX TD04, having boost problems, its not holding boost. Boost is peaking and the car shoots off like a rocket but for some reason its not holding boost! Does this mean i need a boost contorller to set boost at certain level as its setup for newer shape car?

Seems like its kinda boosting then letting off, so you kinda get a rocking motion when go faster pedal is pressed hard!

Thanks in advance!

the resistor is a very small metal thingy that goes in the thin boost pipe that goes from the ic intake pipe of the turbo to the t-piece. it has a small hole straight throught the centre of it. you should feel the thin pipe with a very hard thing in it. it's about half a centimeter long

Question

That might be the 'Restrictor' mate?
Resistors are small electronic devices used elsewhere in the cars electrical/electronic systems.

All the best,

Steve.

LOL

Ok i'm confused. I need a restrictor, ok, not a resistor. I thought as much, didn't like to say though as i'm further down the road now thatn half hour ago lol.

So this pipe, long grey and with thing in middle yea?

Think i have that somewhere. I'll go fit it and go for a drive, not before ive had a reply tho!

Cheers

Gav

Cool

lol

yeah, thats the pipe mate. you should have three pipes going to a t-piece sitting right above the turbo. the one on the right goes to the wee metal pipe of the turbo inlet from the ic. that black/grey pipe should have the restrictor in it. after that, come back and tell us how you got on.

Right i have them both.

Theres a long black one firmly attached to the boost solenoid? Comes over from that direction (where alarm housing siren is) Then on that there is a T piece, with two grey hoses coming off. One to the tubo housing and one to the actuator. Is this right??

Please help, gotta drive a long distance tomorrow! Dont wanna break it lol!

So it plug onto the compressor housing? I thought that was right! Ah well i'll go try it and drive the car. What if this doesn't solve the problem?
