HELP...STEAM FROM ENGINE
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i need to find some solutions to the problem i have asap as its xmas eve tomorrow and need the car over the xmas break.
Went for a spin tonight and as i was pulling on the drive, steam started coming from under the bonnet, loads of steam.
Smells like coolant, at the drivers side, rear of the engine there is coolant/coloured water sprayed all over the fire wall.
The coolant resevoir is empty of water.
The engine temp is normal but as soon as i start the car it steams like mad.
ANY IDEAS guys?
Cheers In Advance

it isnt too hard to follow the circuit. You have two hoses from the radiator, one enters the engine via a thermostat and the other end enters the radiator from the bottom (I don't know exactly where or which side since I dont have a WRX yet).
The radiator has a plug that you should be able to viasuallu check for leaks, but since you said firewall, I would assume it is nearer to the top of the engien outlet or at the thermostat / pump

If it is near the bulk head then possibly the pipe to the turbo.. hopefully the top one..
Runs from header tank to the turbo..
www.raldes.co.uk where the cheapest place I found for a complete samco set of hoses.. or you are at the dealer for the individual pipe.. assuming it is a pipe..

this happened to me mate. it was a split on the radiator side tank at the side. but it only happened when i booted the car so when it was idling it wasn't leaking. got my rad repaired and recon and its fine now.

If fans are on all the time then the coolant temp sensor is faulty (Engine doesn't know if hot of cold)... hopefully you new thread found the fault?
