Question

hi guys,

ive just noticed when im doing over 40mph there is a noise from the front wheels. The noise gets louder when i increase the speed and gets quieter when i slow down but if i put the gear in neutral when slowing down, say for instance slowing down on the slip road of a motorway, the noise is still there and getting quieter and the same rate which makes me think that it nothing to do with the engine and the fact that it sounds like something rotating, can anyone give me any advice please?

Sounds like a wheel bearing.Does it make a noise when you turn a corner?

Road noise from the tyres? What make / type and size are fitted?

Could be brake pads draging on disk?

Your front brake pads are not low are they?? With about 1.5mm pad material left there are wear indicators which basically scrape against the disc and cause a grinding noise. These wear indicators are on the inner pad, which can wear quicker than the outer pads.
