Just wondering, have only owned my Scooby a month ( on Weds ) and was wondering, looking at the Knocking channel on my FC what readings should I be getting?
Also any other of the channel "safe" readings should I be getting?
The car is an STi V5 Coupe
Cheers

I have the FC commander and a Knocklink, so can tell you roughly how they react. At 30 on the commander the bottom green flickers, at 35 ish it comes on bright, at 35 to 40 the second green flickers and at 45 it lights up along with a flicker from the first amber, however after 50 it all starts to get a little hairy as I'm too busy looking at the road, however I know that above 60 the red lights up.
In real driving terms you don't want to see more that 40. I run mine with a peak of 35 ish. You can retard the ignition to dial out a lot of detting.
Did you get the Power FC with the car direct from Japan? If so be very careful as their maps are based on 100 octane fuel and even with optimax and an octane booster the ignition advance is still too much. Best to knock at least 6 points off the ignition timing for now then get it remapped. If your not sure how to do this E mail me direct and I shall go through it with you.
What ever you do DON'T try to remap the ignition map yourself until you are a bit more proficient!!!
Good luck

I have left i completley alone. Gonna go and see Clive at RC Developments, heard he is really good with the FC Commander.
Its not a KnockLink I have, I just go off readings on the FC Commander.
Cheers

Hi Andy, i also use a power FC commander on my car as a knock display, as ive545 said anything over 30 is not good.
i find the commander's knock display an advantage over a knock link as it has a 15 second scroll screen so you can glance at it and get a lot more info.
as for mapping i have used RC DEVELOPMENTS and also used Andy F(scoobynet regular) and found Andy to have the upper hand when it comes to subaru mapping.
also i would get the map looked at ASAP as 75 of knock will kill your engine fast!
if you want any more info drop me an e-mail

Cheers, will get it in ASAP as its soooo hard not to give it some.
As long as I'm not rallying about its in single figures, sometimes as high as 14.
But I know the car is really overfueling, alot. The car is always covered in unburnt fuel.
Are Well Lane any good for a re-map?
Can you put me in contact with someone good who could re-map using the FC Commander.
Cheers for all your help, much appreciated.

RB motorsport are in mawdesley (just down the road from you) and are absolutely brilliant. They specialise in skylines, but I reckon they no more about power FC's than Apexi!!!!! Not sure of contact details (got a phone number at home) but Cord who works there is usually found on here somewhere

Andy: Give us a bell 01704 822848, or an email rod@rbmotorsport.co.uk we will see what we can do for you.

I have a Commander and have never had a reading above 25. As for mapping I have used both RC Developments and RB motorsport. I am waiting until 21st of December to give a comparison of the two mentioned tuners and Andy F. The fact I am driving 250miles to see Mr F goes someway into suggesting what I would do.

It certainly pays when you use someone who actually knows what they are doing.
Just wished I'd used him before, the funny thing is I remember Andy was going to map the car but I decided against it and took the car to RB as it was closer and less hassle for all involved. Wish I'd just paid Rally Colin (he fitted STi4 engine into car after it went bang so car couldn't really be driven) to take my car to Edinburgh in the first place. I would have saved money in the long run and would not have had to get my car mapped twice.
Car is the best it has EVER been I would not recommend anyone other than Andy,
Cheers Andy for giving me a car that is like a new one. It has probably been said by loads of people when they have had a map done that their car pulls like a train and blah blah blah...., mine makes me laugh so much it really is superb, you know what I mean Jonny

Hi Jonny,
Funny you should ask as I have just got in after a "play" with a Pulsar GTi-r (300+bhp). The guys car was quick but the difference was really noticeable, pulled about 30-40 car lengths clear of him over approx 1/2 a mile.
You could really tell after 80. On my way home from Scotland I spent the whole journey laughing to myself because I was so happy with my NEW car
I am so glad I went, Andy Forrest blows RC and RB out of the water as both companies have had a go at my car and it has never been as good as it is now. The difference between the RB map and the Andy Forrest map is that I suspect the incident tonight would have left me behind the Pulsar and not looking at it in my mirror
My buddy who I compare my car against reckons the car is so much quicker also. Paul Corrigan just calls it a beast and says it should be locked up
Happy NY Jonny
