It's about 70quid just for the sensor, about 250quid for the full unit.

Shouldn't be any reason that you need the full unit unless youve done something really bad

There have been a few threads on this recently mate. I will try to find them to post for you. The part is about 70 sheets apparantely and the originals for the MY99 were cr@p. I will be changing mine soon too as it has been the cause of a few blown engines it would seem. The new ones are different to the originals too apparantely which will hopefully mean more robustness and no knackered engines.

Why did you buy a new MAF messiah? I am only going to change mine as a precaution as the originals are supposed to be no good. That and I would like to add an induction kit....

Care needs to be taken with induction kits, no matter which type of MAF sensor your car has. Before buying, check here first that the particular one you're considering doesn't cause MAF misreads, as this can itself result in damaged/blown engines.

It's not quite correct to claim that the original design MY99/00 MAF sensor is "no good", BTW. They do the job they're designed for well enough; the main problem with them is that they've developed a reputation for being more fragile than the earlier type.
