i have noticed that when going round tight corners i get a whyney scratchy type noise that goes up and down with the revs coming from i think the power assist pump

if i drive round a car park (empty) with half left lock on,i get a bit of speed then start moving the wheel side to side making the circle i am going in larger and smaller i get the noise it only seems to happen when the wheel is moved in one direction quikly.

the pump is a bit whyney anyway could it be on the way out!!!

any help greatfull

ps sorry for any crap spelling

Yes. First thing to do is check the level of the PAS fluid, top up if necessary. (Dexron (spelling?)III fluid IIRC)

Then check to see if there are any leaks - one of the favourites is the seal round the bottom of the PAS reservoir - it's quite an easy & cheap job to do.

Hope it's not more serious than this!

Wink

Me too

I ended up topping the reservoir up, it looks like it's full but it isn't. I got about 74 litres into mine HAHAHAHAHA (Only Kidding )

You get two if you have aircon

Spotted it a few years ago. I have a MY00 UK car, and a mate has an RB5. He's got 2 fans I've got 1 and the only difference physically (Excluding ECU's strut braces, folding down seats etc) is that his car came with aircon as standard.
