Question

i have a strange smell come into the car after a long run when i stop and let it idle it smells like burning oil but no visible leaks and no smoke coming from exhaust is it possible it could be the turbo leaking oil

look at the doj's on the driveshafts (gearbox end) they are common for leaking the grease out when they get hot and it does smell like burning oil

The grease can work its way back along the hot exhaust and cause a burning smell.

I got mine done free under warranty using a different grease.

or, another common problem that manifests itself in a burning smell, is leaking fluid from your power steering reservoir.

It seems that the pipework between the reservoir and the pump can sometimes leak, or the fluid can boil in the reservoir on long runs/high revs and work its way out. Do a search on power steering fluid, as Pete Croney (ScoobySport) recommends upgrading the fluid to prevent it from boiling.
