I have recently changed the oil on MY00 Turbo this being from Magnetec 10w40 to Mobil 1 motorsport 15/50. I have however noticed that since the change the engine following start up sounds quite noisy. Now once the car has been running for a few minutes it quietens down but I have to admit that I never remembered such noise when I had Magnetec in it ??

Anyone else experienced these probs - cos I am very tempted to go back to the Magnetec.

Question

I ran mobil 1 motorsport 15w50 for quite a long time and never had a problem with it (was lovely and quiet )
Did you do your own oil change or did a dealer do it for you?

I got a garage to perform the oil change cos I couldn't get the friggen sump bolt undone

However I trust the garage, they have done previous work for me I just wondered as to whether the magnetec was any thicker than the Mobil 1 ??

Did the garage pre fill the filter with oil and crank the engine over before starting? Have heard a few horror stories on here about bearings picking up, if the above precautions aren't taken. Don't want to make you paranoid or anything but it might be worth checking out if your getting strange noises.

Why couldn't you get the sump plug undone? Did you strip the flats on the bolt?

Edited to say I use Magnatec now, instead of Mobil. I change it every 2500, which I think is a good idea on any car. Can't see why a Scooby should need £12.00 a litre oil for road use anyway.
