K&N element,fitting & assoc queries

Bought a K&N replacement element for MY00
the instructions are for a Nissan but it's
definitely the right one. It seems
straightforward but there are two self-
adhesive sponge pads. Where do these go???
Also, once it is fitted, do you simply drive
away, letting the ECU sort out the extra
airflow ???
Thanks in advance for any advice

I fitted a K&N replacement filter a few months back. I couldn't see what the foam pads were for either - haven't used them. As for the air flow - no didn't reset ECU, just drove on. I guess over time it would adjust if there was a big difference.

No problem Steve.

In response to your question. I guess you will find only a very slight improvement with the new filter element. When I fitted mine, it was in conjunction with removing the resonator. A week or so later, I also fitted a Magnex backbox, the combination of these certainly made the car smoother (I think it also helped to stop the 'booming' in the cabin I was getting from the Magnex BB) and the turbo spools up a little quicker.
I've just added a de-cat centre section and this has improved things still further.
