ECU Remap options for UK99
#1
Is there a consolidated list for ECU remaps for the UK99, comparing:
This will be handy in deciding what remap to go for and when to start saving
- Price
- Performance
- Prerequisties (I have a full Decat, VTA D/V, KN57i induction)
- Availabilty
- Reliability

As you are in West London, I would ask Power Engineering about an EcuTek remap.
Very reliable, good results and excellent value for money.

don't have a remap until you have completed all mods they cost £763 inc vat. if you change anything after remap you will need it changing to suit new spec.

£700 odd is quite a few bob, given the pre-99 remaps go for under £100 (ScoobyECU is it?)
Bob, YHM.
Why would I need a ECUTEK 3? I thought 2 would suffice...plus it's not mapped for induction kit is it?

Too late now. All the work is complete ( apart from mine .. but that's another story )
There may be another group buy in the new year. I'll talk to bob about it when mine is done.

EcuTek use your existing ECU so no need to tell insurance company.
Failing to do so puts you at risk of all the usual complications that can result from un-notified modifications in the event of an accident. While the ECU hardware may remain "standard", insurance companies are getting more and more turned on to this sort of modification, and the risks of getting caught in this situation may be more than some people are prepared to risk.

As for the induction kit, provided it doesn't alter the MAF values, it won't be necessary to map around. If it does, then a custom map would introduce a scaling factor for the airflow readings.

A-ha, I stand corrected. I initially thought that the TeK 3 was custom and the TeK 2 standard, but a quick peek at Scoobysport's website convinced me otherwise.

RE the insurance, they would have to actually test the ECU using the software that was used to map it (not many peeps got this)
Dont want to go into details in case there are any insurers out there But yes, legally you should tell them.
