Last saturday i had the pleasure of meeting a certain Bob Rawle for a TEK3 remap of my STiV, prior to this day my car had been in storage for 8 weeks so actually judging the cars improvements i thought would probably take me a bit of time.

During the session the car IMHO was starting to pull slightly stronger & stronger, but i decided to reserve judgement till i got her home & on to familiar territory, minus the weight of Bob & my missus.

I can only describe the boost characteristics as manic now , it now takes no time to get ballistic, im finding that im not changing gear fast enough to keep up with boost. All in all, very happy It was probably the first time that ive floored it & got complete silence from my missus

I have always been a bit sceptical of the cost of TEK3, but all i can say is that the results are excellent & if anyone wants to have a bigger smile on there face at the end of the day, go for a groupbuy & receive a good discount with a very amicable company, (in my case BRD)

ps Bob, dont mention the boost gauge pipe!! & i wont mention the popped up eddie merckx

cheers
Andy

lol...been telling people on here to go and have it done for ages, especially if ur car is already decatted sporting a nice big exhaust, up and downpipe. Pound for pound its just about the best mod u can get done.
Glad to hear theres another bloke driving around with a stupid grin all over his face.

yeah still grinning , i have to say i have not been pro TEK3 in the past, mainly due to the pricing, but there is no getting away from the results, i found it a bit daunting having a mapping genius sat next to me, i liken it to carl fogarty turning up at your house and asking you to take him for a spin on the back off your bike

I agree with everything you said there Andy I've had a week away in the sticks and the car has had some real hammer - but no problems with the boost gauge pipe My problems start with tyres which look a st1t loads worse than what they did before the Tek and a now rapidly failing clutch

Thumbs up

Hi Andy, good to hear you think its all been worth it.
It gets a bit mad when mapping doesnt it?
"Hold it at 1 bar", "OK im holding it at 1 bar and there is a car rapidly getting closer! Er when do i shut off?!!"
Imagine having to do all that whilst suffering from food poisoning.

Talking

Andy

Thanks for sorting the group buy out - I haven't stop smiling since.

I agree the boost control took some getting used to.

I did have fun at the traffic lights at the one roundabout - sat behind a Seat Leon Cupra R, Bob finalises the map and of we go

It didn't enjoy when I started my car on Bob's drive - he listens to the turbo, looks at me and annouces it has 6 months to live

My new turbo is on it's way from America so I will have to go and see him again soon

No worries Ian, sorry to hear about your turbo, it was my first groupbuy i had ever organised, I couldnt believe how smoothly it went, I believe it was the first ever G/Buy on TEK3, which suprised me with the discount saved over orig cost

Am purchasing an STIV soon. Just in case I want to go mad and have an ecutek done, How much is one as standard? What gains roughly? and is it runneable on optimax or does it have to have booster?

Question

Gains:

STi V Type R with cat back exhaust only: 277bhp at Powerstation
STi V Type R with TEK3, full de-cat exhaust, panel filter: 301bhp at Powerstation, Cheltenham.

The figures give an indication but don't tell the whole story, it is now a different car to drive. No longer does nothing happen until 4000 rpm - then bang, lots of power.
Now I have positive boost at 2000rpm and smooth power delivery all the way through the rev range - serious fun

Highly recommended

Forgot to mention can be mapped for what ever fuel you want to run, mine is mapped for Optimax only - I was fed up with measuring octane booster on petrol station forecourts

Yes, but gains over the ppp ecu won't be massive. You would be better off buying a stock ecu and selling the prodrive ecu on it's own. Having said that, depending what year your car is - it could also have ecutek software onboard as prodrive now use it. If this is the case then it would be fair to say that you already have a Tek2

Smile

I think this is an excellent mod, even if the power stays the same. At least its then mapped for the right fuel.
