MAF = mass air flow
MAP = manifold air pressure

...or to explain it a bit, the MAF sensor measures the volume of air flowing through the induction tract into the engine.

The MAP sensor measures the pressure of the air inside the inlet manifold - in other words, after it's been through the turbocharger and intercooler.

Equally correct. Just depends whose terminology you favour. Most sensor manufacturers assume absolute pressure unless otherwise stated, thus:

TMAP = temperature & manifold air/absolute pressure.
DTMAP = temperature & differential air pressure.

The MAF sensor is inside the induction pipe immediately after the airbox. Depending on the model year, the base and connections for it will either be on top of the induction pipe (most cars) or at the back of it (99/00/STi5/STi6).

However, before you rush into changing it, the most common symptoms of a failing MAF sensor are uneven idle, and, paradoxically, better acceleration. If the car is stuttering/holding back, there are other, potentially more likely explanations.

What model year is your car BTW?
