what is best, cause i just can't get rid of the greasy residue on it. tried different polishes but nothing works for longer than about half an hour in the rain!!!

Pray on Mr Muscle glass cleaner... Then use newspaper to clean the windows and lots of it... "doesn't matter about which one" Trust me this will do the job!

tried the autoglym but not rain-x. make a big diff over just the autoglym?

try the autoglym glass polish, seems to work as good as "rain X".

Distilled water is a good one. Wet your shamy with the distilled water, wipe the windows with it then buff it up with a good thick absorbing tissue or newspaper as stated in earlier thread. I also do the whole car with it and the differance it makes instead of using normal water.

Autoglym glass polish is good but the rain-x lasts for a month or so (more on side windows, and don't forget headlights etc.) and is as good as new each time you wash the car (or windscreen if the weather is just generally cr@p). IIRC you can remove stobourn flies with the Autoglym and the rain-x should still be ok.
