Im After some advice on a problem with my uk 97 turbo,

Basically every now and then especially when its cold, my car feels like its over boosting it starts at around 3000-3500 rpm and the car just feels like its cutting out the revs drop below 3000 then it pickes up again! its quite violent when it happens, ive been to 2 subaru garages so far with no help really, its intermitent so when they test it it hasent happened!

The car has a wr back box and a green air filter other wise is standard,

Any advice would be great

Thanks
Pete.

Try checking the size of the "air restrictor" in the actuator hose by the turbo, make sure it is not too large. If so, you can either replace the restrictor for a smaller one, or solder the hole up and re drill to 0.8mm initially, see how it performs, then try 1.0mm and hopefully, should fix it "if" it is overboosting. If 1.0 mm is causing the same problem, then simply re solder and drill back to 0.8. very easy to do and so mega cheap as well.!
