MY99 MPG
#1
Was wondering if anyone else has a run in MY99 and has owned a previous Scooby (mine was an MY97) that has any feel for whether the MPG is much if any different. Mines done some 2k+ miles and I'm strugling to get much more than 22/23 to the gallon. When my previous car regularly delivered up high twenties. Fair enough, most of my 400 miles + per week, are medium to long journeys (IE. no town work). I can't say that my driving style has changed all of a sudden. Not that worried, otherwise I would have bought a Micra but would be interested to hear other peoples comments.

I'm also a sad person as I've been keeping a log since new.
My MY99 with 8,000 on the clock constantly gives an average of 26 mpg (best 29, worst 22). This on standard unleaded.
Would the extra cost of SUL (10p per litre) really make a difference?

I have got a MY98 and I'm getting low 20's on SUL. I know it doesn't make a huge difference but leaving the car to tick over for a couple minutes at the end of journey may make some difference especially on short journeys. Better than a new turbo though, I suppose.

I have about 5000 on a MY99 and also had a MY98.
I am getting around 20-22 mpg on this car compared with about 22-23mpg on the MY98.
This is really bad....but I do a lot of town driving, and because of that, when I get on a good road I make up for it.
I am using UL (52.5pence per litre ir Ireland) instead of SUL (63p per litre)....is this going to make any difference? Is it bad for the car? I usually put around 45-50 litres in (I think) so the difference per fill is quite significant.
I get around 210 miles for a fill.costing around IEP27.00...so if my calcs above are wrong you can work it out.
