Car is an MY 93 wrx,
Car is fitted with VTA dump valve..
If i drive the car normally, dont wallop it at all, no problems
With decat centre and Prodrive Back box .. drive sensible No problems, cane it, no problems ..
With Catted centre, if i cane it .. it will run fine, boost ok @ 0.75, and then ..bump, the boost will back off to 0.5 bar (and its always when u need it most) ... give it 5 - 10 min's and full boost comes back
With the decat, i dont have any loss of boost problems.
I am aware of 'limp' mode .... but i'm defeated as this only seems to happen with the catted centre..
Anybody any ideas
thanx

Frank,
Mine used to do this all the time and I'm not exactly sure what cured it, but I changed the boost controller for a Dawes and changed the ignition coils which improved the situation greatly. Now I've been remapped, it's disappeared completely.
I know you've got a Scoobyecu chip that doesn't seem to work in your ECU, but I suddenly had the thought that maybe you hadn't cut the J1 resistor?
If you want, we can meet up and I'll see if it's the same kind of thing my car was doing, we can always swap bits about between both cars to see if we can cure it.
Dave

I had the same problem on wrx 93 cleaned out boost solenoid and this seems to have cured it, same symptoms kept dropping to 0.5 bar max boost , stopping the car and restart engine would also cure it.

thanks guys ...
Dave, drop us an email with your number, and maybe we can meet up..
I didnt fit the ecu adapter, as it kept cutting the engine out ..i did the J1 cut, and switch .. so this is just on std ecu.
Just a line of thought, can the lambda sensor get too hot, under load?? , and therefore with decat, theres a bit less to stop it getting so hot?
will give the boost solenoid a clean ..!!

Decat doesn't effect the lambda as it is before the cats..
I have a similar problem and I am sure it is boost controller..
I have cleaned it and will be doing again but think it might be time for a new one for me.. lasted well though.
The Scoobyecu will be raising the boost this then making the problem occur more often, rather than the scoobyecu causing the problem etc..
