STI7 PPP then ECUTEK is it worth it????
#1
A friend of my who doesnt come on the board posed this question to me and I couldnt answer can anyone else???
He is getting the PPP pack for his sti7 and wonders if after this is fitted it is worthwhile getting the ecu done via ECUTEK would there be any gains??
or would the extra for the ecutek be wasted money comments would be appreciated please
i would like to note he is warranty concious hence the question the ecutek could be done without harming his warranty (much)
thanx

yes it does but I think the ppp ecu is designed for worst case scenarios bad fuel etc etc whereas a bespoke map from ecutek may take better advantage of the decat etc.

Dude,
If you get the PPP - you dont THEN go and get the ECUtek.... you do one or the other.
Does he care about his warrenty - if so the PPP gives approx 300bhp of warrenty friendly power.
If not - he wants to get a full decat and an ECUtek - to make max use of the freed up breathing of the exhaust.
No point doing one, then the other....

I pretty much agree. We have had owners in that have regretted having the PPP and have gone for the full exhaust and map, but it works out very expensive to do both, especially as things like the PPP exhaust get junked in the process. There may be a market for the old PPP exhaust, second hand, which would help off set some cost.
01-02 PPP cars have been producing around 290-295bhp, which is about right with the 300ps claimed. 03 STis produce a bit more, but I haven't seen enough dynos of these to quote a figure.
EcuTek and full system STis produce around 340bhp and 325lbft of torque.

Ive never seen an ecutek'd sti on the rollers (new shape) so i cannot compare but there was an sti7 type uk with PPP that ran on well lanes rollers and pushed out 311bhp in standard PPP form, better than the quoted 305ps
