Question

Id like opinions on whats the best time (milage) to go from the standard oil that subaru use, to fully synthetic oil.

At first I was going to change to it right after the 1000 mile service, but was told that I shouldnt as it would ruin the running in process. So oil was changed at 1000 by subaru and then again by myself at 2500, using standard subaru stuff (semi-synth castrol I belive).

Now approching 5000 and Im wondering if nows the time, or leave it till 10,000 (obviously Ill still be changing the oil at 5000, but possibly just standard subaru stuff again).

Anyways, just wondered if anyone has any indepth information on this.

Many thanks Andy

Wink

After 2.5k would have been fine
Just change it at your next service, you should have no problems

Tony

PS, dont use the 5w30 that subaru garages tend to put in as its not designed for this climate (if only they read the handbook )
