If its a Jap import then yes definitely. They are set up to run on jap fuel (100ron) so on 95ron they will DET big-time eventually leading up to a large repair bill. As is mentioned above, get a knocklink cos at least you will be pre-warned of detonation before its too late.

Just found this! There's a group buy for Knocklinks going on at the moment from BR Developments. Info here. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=221781

Don't disconnect the battery! That'll make it worse (it'll 'forget' all the safe retard it's been adding).
Try & get hold of some octane booster - my preference would be for NF but it's not the easiest to get hold of quickly. Millers I think would be next... but any will be an improvement!
If you drive carefully (as in keep boost to an absolute minimum), there shouldn't be a problem, even with NUL. Flooring it is certainly a no-no

Yes. Add the booster, take it easy till you waste that tank, then use Optimax.
It would also be a good idea to invest in a Knocklink, to monitor det. Det is not always audible to the ear. With the Knocklink you will be able to monitor det. It's good insurance, plus you will be able to observe if the problem is more than just bad fuel quality related or too low a RON rating.
Cheers,
George.

Yes, you can fit it yourself. Instructions with a pic here. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ight=Knocklink
Follow Jan Shim's instructions on that link.
As for buying, try BR Developments and speak to Bob Rawle. Here's their web site and info on the Knocklink. http://www.brdevelopments.com/link.html

Maxy
We only need another person and the buy can go ahead so if you fancy one put your name down!
Although ive a UK MY98 and always run on Optimax im after one because you never know when you might get some dodgy fuel or maybe another sensor going down. Bit of an insurance policy in my opinion.
