I am really interested in putting a SECS in my Type R, but am unsure of exactly how accurate the data would be baring in mind the Unichip alters signals from the ECU?

Can anyone advise of what info is likely to be correct and what not?

It will work providing you have the 16 pin diagnostic socket, but the boost will read what the ECU is seeing not the actual boost, due to the Unichip.

Would I be correct in saying that when using a Unichip

These will read correctly

Road Speed
Charge Temp
Battery Volts
Injector Duty
Engine Speed

But the following will be wrong

Boost Pressure
Ignition Advance
Throttle Postion
Knock Correction

Not sure if I have got them all right or not?????

I remember when Theo, (Evil Bevel), had a Unichip and Delta Dash, which is also diagnostic sofware, that it was only one thing that did not read right on DD. I think it was the MAF sensor readings only. Boost, throttle, knock correction and timing should all be fine with the SECS. Boost however, may not read right if the Unichip possesses a fuel cut defender in it. It will read boost correctly till what boost the fuel cut defender has been programmed to kick in.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Wrexy

I cannot see how the IG would read correct as surely the Unichip alters this parametre?

The same certainly will apply to the Boost, just not sure about
Knock , and Throttle though?

It alters it but the ECU may still see it. Just not be able to do anything to it. However I'm not 100% sure.

My Delta Dash software would see my boost even when I used to use the Blitz electronic boost controller. However when I had a fuel cut defender, it would only see the boost till where the fuel cut defender kicked in which was at 15 psi. Although I was boosting to 18 psi, the ECU could only see 15 psi.

Cheers,

Wrexy.
