For the past few months my Turbo heatshield has become more annoying with it's constant rattle. Does anyone know how much a new shield will rob me, or shall i just botch it?
I've not had a right good look, but they don't look all that easy to whip off.

Took mine off to fit my downpipe, just a handfull of 10mm bolts, bit fiddley but not hard to remove. Have left mine off completely. a few Scoobynet members have advised me not to leave it off due to the possibility of boiling the brake fluid etc but I have encountered no problems whatsoever.

Chears lads.
I spotted that Scoty, thats what reminded me of my rattle actually. I didn't post a reply cos i thought £40 was quite expensive. Nothing against you! I figured that if someone was selling one second hand at £40, then what the hell do Subaru charge? Thats why i set up this thread.

Would be interested to know the answer to that one too, though I'm a bit worried that it might cause problems with the turbo getting a too hot as it would no-longer have any way to radiate heat (apart from oil obviously)

I thought the theory behind turbo wrap was to keep the turbo as hot as possible and therefore spin faster = more power? I dont think you have to worry about heat disapation as long as you let the engine idle for 2 mins after a good drive.
NB you only want to wrap the exhaust side, leave the inlet side un wrapped as that pulls the air through the intercooler
