Boost questions with dawes device(NOT USUAL QUESTIONS)
#1
Ive just been reading some old threads from 2001 (mainly from John Banks)---Why is it that my boost doesnt peak until about 2600rpm with my DD(John Banks's peaks at 2200rpm)-this isnt much lower than the std setup but it still feels much better than std???(even when set at 0.9 bar)
Also--what gains are there to fitting the DD vertically opposed to horisontally???
And last but not least--- Before i fitted my DD,i fitted a boost gauge(APEXi),it peaked as it should at 0.9 bar so i assume the gauge is fairly accurate---with the DD fitted it seems to hit fuel cut at around 1.1 bar-surely it should be 1.2 bar???
Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated.
Car is MY98 with Hybrid Dawes(1 month old) + B.Box
Thanks

Never judge your car by John Bank's standard. You'll commit suicide.
Anyway, how much do you trust your boost gauge? No gauges in this world are 100% accurate. Facts of life..

my dawes is kicking in at about 1 bar arount 3000. when you consider that before dawes and H+S downpipe boost really only came on song at about 4 - 4.5K revs then this is a major improvement.
As to fuel cut out i thought like yourself that this was at about 1.2 bar. gotta watch the det though, it will kill the engine. knocklink and afr a must in these cases. using SUL with octane booster will also help, assuming the car is a JDM. another safety feature you might want to consider is an adjustable fuel regulator.
if i had the money i would go down the road of a remap i get rid of the dawes altogether, only problem being there aren't that many remaps for a 95 JDM.
cheers
big sinky
