Hi guys,
Well it's by the 'ICE mode' button on the centre console by the hand brake.
My car is an Automatic, and the button has what looks like a heated widscreen symbol on it along with a wiper signal...
Basically when I switch it on, something happens cause I see it just put a little extra on the engine..
However my heated rear window button is on my dash, don't think my car has a heated windscreen can't see any lines..

That button is "heated wiper blade area", for de-icing the screen so ya blades don't stick
If the screen has been replaced at some point, until it's frosty, you'll not know if you have the correct screen

I got an american Haynes manual supplied with the car (94 Legacy GT TT estate)and got a handbook from a main Subaru dealer, both helpful, but neither cover the particular model.
As you are all so helpful on the windscreen de-ice button, what is the unmarked push-on/push-off button in front of the gear selector (auto gearbox), the previous owned did'nt seem to know & none of the books mention it?
Thanks Paul!

Unmarked = non-standard or wornout
Could be a mode switch for the box, or:
If it is smaller than a normal button, that'll be the shiftlock release. Pressing and holding will permit you to shift the lever with the engine off.
And I could be wrong since I have driven manuals on all the Legacys I've had...HTH

I can help with that!!!
the button is to let you release the gear selector when the engine isn't running as the parking brake becomes engaged...
If you leave the car in 'P' with the engine running for a while you can't engage 'D' without stepping on the brake first...

Thanks a lot guys!!
Seems to work as described.
No sign of wires inlaid in my windscreen, however relay sounds when switched on, wonder if possible heating element of some description in sdash panel which presses close to lower screen??

I had that function on my BG and the element was not visible.
An easy check is to turn it on and then whack a bit of ice on it - if it melts faster than another bit sat some where away from the heated area you are in biz
Mine had heated mirrors, too.
If it doesn't work, er, now where's my drawing board?
