Question

Been toying with the idea of getting a Dawes Device for MY99 RB5.

Thing is - don't really know what it is, what it does and if I'll get any margin of fun out of it.

Anyone got ideas on pro's/con's/gains and any additional items I should really fit to make things 'safe'.

Cheers in advance...

Shanno

Its sorta like a bleed valve where you can adjust your boost but using a ball and spring setup. You'll need an AFR and a knock link to be sure that you're not running too lean and detting your engine away. I don't have the link to the Dawes AFR but john banks was the Dawes Guru months ago.

As long as you don't get a fuel cut lifter (its safe below the fuel cut) and whacking in 1.5 Bar you'll be okay. Not unlike some crazy guy who did this to his car.

i am not an expert but i did have one fitted it gave excellant smiles per pound most important is that you have a boost gauge fitted so you can moniter your boost

the only reson i changed it was becouse i had a tech2 fitted which dose make the car quicker but the impression of speed of the dawes is great

Thanks very much, just malling through the figures - once you fit a centre pod console with gauges, save up for the Knock link and TEK2 at a later date, you're staring a considerable sum of money in the face.

Some more thinking is required me thinks... And perhaps after crimbo!

Cheers

Make sure you get the AFR. Its good to know if you're fuelling right or not. knock link tells you that you're detting after you're detting.

I tried one briefly on a WRX 02 - good fun but was concerned about ignition timing and of course my warranty so had it removed. Fun while it lasted though......
