Unhappy

I have a temporary problem with starting.
Sometimes when I go to start the scoob all the lights on the dash come on and when I turn the key fully the lights dim but nothing happens.

There is no click from the starter motor????

I have recently done the Earth mod but it has made no difference.

Any Ideas
Scott

Have changed it 2 weeks ago and was doing on old one too..

Have given the starter motor wire a wiggle to make sure its making a good connection so I will wait and see if it still does it.

Thanks

Oh... the starter motors are suppose to be very strong so unlikely to be anything wrong there but a possibility.

Hope you sort it

It might be worth taking the starter motor off and check that its working-it may be seized/sticking.If it does work, you can then rule that out of the problem. Also, you should double check all electrical connections, including the battery.

I have had a problem on another car where the connections on the immobiliser were not very good. It would do the same as you describe.. I found out the problem by putting a volt meter on the start motor which comes from the ignition.. and it was at about 11.8volts and so sometimes this was enough to turn the motor and other times is wasn't. So I ran antoher wire from the start motor to beside the battery and if it didn;t start used to touch that on the positive battery terminal until it start.. was a bodge but got me out of a hole until I managed to fix it properly.. so check the voltage at the starter and at the battery whilst you are there.. might be that the alternator is not charging properly?

Had a starting prob recently but my starter was clicking.
It was a poor connection between the battery lead and starter, cleaned it up and squirted with WD40 good as new.......
There is another smaller wire attached to the starter that energises the solonoid, causes the click and allows the starter to spin. Try cleaning up that connection..........maybe.
