Does anyone have the £1600 Prodrive upgrade for the 02 WRX? I've seen the review of the Sti version, but can't find any opinion on the standard WRX version.
Anyone have it? Pros and Cons?

Ok, I've been given some good advice regarding the fact that the PPP won't affect my warranty, but I'm looking more for some general useability comments from someone who has the kit fitted.
I've read the stats, but that doesnt compare with hearing from someone regarding what its like day to day...

There's been quite a lot of threads about the PPP on the WRX. Might be worth trying a search.
I've no first-hand experience, but as far as I can remember everyone who has posted about it raves about how good it is.

Okay the PPP...
Firstly warrenty safe!
Improves the torque and power of the car, it performs better lower down the rev range and the power curve is smothed out.
Fifth gear actually becomes more powerful with very worrying habit of going very illegal.
I had mine fitted over a year ago and noticed a marked improvement with performance.
The exhaust note was also improved. A bigger back box is part of the kit as is the removal of the cat in the pipe between the downpipe and the centre section.
The European MY01/02 have a four part exhaist system (downpipe (with cat), link pipe (this cat gets removed), centre section (with resonator (squareish box) not a cat although people sometimes think it is) and the back box.
Of course back then there were less options available to owners.
If you want to maintain warrenty then it is your best route.
Otherwise there are several options available such as third party ECUs and different exhaust systems. These can cost more than you expect quite quickly.

Great, just thanks for that...exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. I bought new specifically for the warranty so I'm happy to pay slightly more for the improvements. I'm not bothered about absolute ridiculous *****-out power (yet) but the standard car IS a little underpowered compared to my expectations, and the PPP sounds like it improves driveability. By the time I run the car in nicely, get the PPP fitted and have some fun with that, maybe then I'll start looking at other mods...
Thanks again.
Ed
PS Are there ANY performance downsides to the PPP?
Thanks again.

No performance downsides compared to standard car, unless you want a silent exhaust.
The "downside" is not so much the cost, rather that you could get more power, better and wider torque band etc for similar money if you're prepared to bu99er the warranty. You're not, so go with PPP and enjoy!
