Does the legacy have charge coolers as standard?

Yes, it's true. I've just started to fit one to my WRX my95. It was supplied Howard on 01422 846868. The kit contains all the parts you require. He has serveral still available.
Doesn't look to difficult to fit, but I'll see when the time comes. Could do with some info on how to wire the water pump in, though.

Experience of the legacy charge cooler (actually on my legacy ) is that is is excellent for road use, but that for 'sustained hard driving' it begins to warm up after around 25minutes.
I would consider changing the charge radiator for something a little more substantial. This shoud keep the temperatures down.
A few aussies have swapped the pump for something with a higher flow rate and had good results too.
You may also want to consider a larger water resivoir, as (although this is more weight) it definitely gives the system more time staying cool.
Personally, I think you can't beat a big fat radiator behind the front bumper, but that is my opinion and has nothing whatsoever to do with it looking dead dead cool.

I'm afraid not.
As far as I can ascertain (and believe me I know NOTHING) there is nothing to stop you just using a radiator off a cars cooling system. Though what would fit / maintain pressure / improve performance I have NO idea.
I started to look into it about a year ago, and found I had so little knowledge as to frustrate me and lose interest.
Maybe you should start a new thread with a title like "Uprated Charge Cooler?" YOu might get a better response?

Any water radiator will be suitable, and pretty much bigger is better. Also an uprated pump is also supposed to be a very good move. The std pump is apparently pretty crap. The sts rad is also pretty small, so there is a lot of room for improvement.
More flow, more cooling capacity. it all helps.

Hi Ho...Hi Ho...it's off-to-the-wreckers-yard-I-go......
I reckon the standard rad off a ford fista should do the job nicely.
Not sure what pump I would use, though. BTW...I cannot see any wiring or a pump for the standard system....looking at it I have this horrible horrible suspicion that the pump is being driven by the charge? Or am I missing something and completely bonkers?

Sorry for being ignorant, but what is a charge cooler and what performance gains will you get?
Is it like an air to water intercooler or something?
Yours ignorantly,
Andy

Keep meaning to do it myself to, but still havent. The pump hides in the passenger side inner guard, and can be accessed from underneath after removing the plastic wheel arch lining.
