When car on full lock turning slowly I get a clonking noise from wheels. Not a track rod end sound, more like a spring. Any ideas??

Had probs with CV joints on a previous motor - did not sound like this. More like a spring noise on this one.

Had a clonking sort of noise from the front suspension and it turned out to be the wheel bearing which needed replacing.

Roughness is usually the bearing and clonking a CV joint.

I would jack the car up, remove the wheel from the suspect corner and take the retainer clip off the CV joint. Pull back the CV boot and check for dryness and wear. Give it a clean and re-pack with grease.??

Worth a try.

ALAS,

Should have said earlier, but make sure you have a spare steel clip for re-fitting the CV boot. A cable tie is not good enough....

Cheers,
