Sounds like a coil pack fault.
Check the coil packs attached to the top of each plug. Remove the rubber caps, which may of perished, and check the plastic round the end of the coil pack plug contact. If it's cracked then it's likely to be shorting out.
New coil packs are about £50 each from C&K Manchester
