Default This cant be a good noise

Hey all, I am a new Subaru owner and think i know about cars. Well until i got this one. I bought it from an auction (2011 Impreza 2.5) with the knowledge it runs and drives. As soon as it was started on the transport truck i could tell something was wrong.

I got it in my driveway and shut it off immediately. The next day i checked the oil and made sure it was at the proper levels. All seemed good. Went to start it again and had this lovely clunking again. I have heard of the subaru knock, but this is so much worse.

I have attached a very short video so you can hear what it is. If any one knows what it is, please let me know and give it to me straight. If it is a rebuild, i am ready for the challenge. if it is something easier, even better.

Id avoid a replacement second hand engine, the 2.5 in standard form is crap, if you plan on keeping it spend money on a forged engine build for it, these can be great engines if done properly.

yes my forged 2.5 was awesome , but......

going to forge a NA engine ?? ,,, overkill in my view as it doesn't see any power so why spend a fortune on building a engine that isnt needed ,, engine would prob out value the car lol

replacement will be cheap as chips

First thing I noticed so never bothered commenting cause I've seen very noisy valve trains on them over the years for one reason or another.

yeah technical term is fooked lol ,, no engine should sound like that , granted you do get some with a noisy top end but they are still not ment to sound like that either lol ,,, metal on metal sound only leads to one outcome , its just a matter of when lol
