Default Removing front mount

I'm after some advice for my V2 STI 555. It's currently got a front mount intercooler fitted and I just don't like all the tight pipework and stuff.
The car is due a remap so what are my options I'm not really clued up on modding the car came modified.
current model
V3 Sti engine
6 speed STI box
Front mount intercooler
Andy F converted billet 20g turbo.
Apexi power fc ecu ( Andy f mapped)
Apexi avcr boost controller
550 cc injectors
Updated fuel pump and fpr.
APEXI induction kit.

I'm removing the APEXI ecu for an Alcatek

If it's going to be over 300bhp, I'd NOT remove it.

Seriously, the stock TMIC suffers badly from heat soak. Ask me how I know? And what it cost me...

TMIC are Terrible from heat soak ??!?!? , this old chestnut

yeah, if you sit in 35 mins of traffic the FMIC and TMIC will both suffer heat soak, radiator heat into the front mount is still a soak up so still requires a half mile of clean air to cool down, pretty much the same for the TMIC.

i monitor charge temps with my TMIC and comparing to FMIC there isnt much difference on heat soak.

yes people have issues as you probably have but if you give if WOT from stationary traffic then heat soak is a factor

if you got heatsoak on WOT you had poor routing of air into the TMIC

Thanks for your input guys it's very helpful... the main reason for removing the front mount is the pipework, they catch on engine parts and are rubbing.. I don't drive the car much it's just a hobby and show car really.

OK dude. You seeem to know it all, so I'll not bother you with the reports of Harvey Smith or David O'Brien into the demise of my engine. Nor with Harvey's finding on under bonnet temperatures

Have the pipework altered slightly to prevent the rubbing, and/or get some hoses that are slightly longer.

You can fit a smaller battery and a smaller washer bottle to gain some more space on that side of the engine. But I kind of agree otherwise. I don't like the pipe that basically rubs against the cambelt cover. I have made it work with some modifications to the piping but I'm not 100% happy. I can't go back to TMIC because of 20mm intake manifold spacers though.

I own the same version car as yourself albeit in sti ra form. Yours is probably making similar power to mine probably around 350 - 400 and will need the fmic to make this kind of power. The tiny factory slanted top mount and low bonnet scoop will not be able to support the 20g turbo.
I'm about to fit a lateral front mount cooler and reverse inlet in an attempt to clean up the engine bay and retro fit an uncut front bumper. To support the mods and power that your car is currently runing returning to the original top mount is not an option. Returning. The option would be a custom fabricated top mount with a large bonnet scoop.

might add.... I've got rid of the factory oil filler cap/neck and replaced it with a stubby "go faster bits" cap I can now cut the ic pipe next to battery and with a joiner rotate it slightly to move it away from the live terminal. That was the plan anyways until I got the lateral fmic.
