Default Front Mount or top mount?

After reading numerous articles on the subject i still can not make my mind up what is better.

The latest, was an article titled "The uk's fastest impreza" where the car is running a top mount intercooler ..

what is the general opinion, what is better for a subaru?

From the pics I have seen Andy f's Top mount looks about the same size as an average DFS sofa , only flatter and with that woman not sitting on it ...........LOL

Just wondering what Scooby you had ??

Yeah, I had a look at Andy's TMIC yesterday and it looks like a Frankenstein creation . Definitely a well thought out design but sadly, very custom.

I'd say it depends on your power goal, turbo choice and how you intend to drive the car

For mere mortals, an STi 8 TMIC and scoop would help. I saw sneaky datalogs off Andy F's car that had 0-100 in the low-mid 7s IIRC with this intercooler. I doubt the Civic Type Rs would harrass you with that

F' me that's quick. Not the CTRs behind he needs to worry about with that pace, it's the ones up the road a ways oblivious of his pace.

hi m8,

i have a hyperflow top mount on my sti 8 ra, and when we were mapping it (steve simpson) we were well inpressed by the air temps and none of the lag of front mounts and all the gubbins of pipwork, though i am sure some front mounts are very good/tidy and will in extreme run a colder charge, and with a top mount you dont have to chop up your front bumper!!!

I'd like to see a direct comparison of charge temps at say 120+ mph. That's where mine falls on it's face (APS TMIC), although I have the small scoop and no diffuser underneath.

I've just fitted a STi bonnet scoop & a zero/sports diffuser on my 2004 WRX wagon (i have a STi intercooler) and although it's not the warmest time of year whenever i check the intercooler it's stone cold
